If you've been following along on the book's progress, you know I'm compiling the knowledge it'll contain. My last email may have been a little optimistic on how far along I'd be by now.
This is the research phase where I sift and pull individual points out of years worth of writing by myself and others. I estimate the total number of notes will end up around 250. Two weeks ago I was at 118 and predicted keeping a 40/week pace I'd hit 200 by now. My actual pace was ~20/week (171 as of today) so I fell short, but I've still made it two-thirds of the way there.
Going at an accelerated clip in July, I ought to catalogue the last 75 notes in 2–3 weeks. What that unlocks is a top-down review of all notes against my outline. So far it's all been working from the bottom up. With some AI help, I'll get a view of how evenly all the topics are covered and redress areas where I'm thin. In my next check-in you will know if I think that historical research was really shabby, or if it acts like a transfusion for my writing.
So that's what's on my plate. And telling you about it is part of how I make sure it actually gets done. I don't know how these updates land for you, but knowing that you signed on for these emails propels me to work hard in order to report back on progress.
As always, if you have something I should hear about, such as a real-world experience or your epiphany on using marketing data — reply to book a call with me - if I use it, I'll give credit in the book. Or you can just write back to cheer me on.
Thanks,
